NEW EVERY MORNING
We are going to read through the Psalms as we consider what our purpose in living is according to God’s Word. Several years ago a hot new book, The Purpose Driven Life, hit the market. Quickly becoming a best seller, the theme of this book is that man was created to live out five purposes in order to find fulfillment in life. According to the author, the following are necessary to live successfully: worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and evangelism.
These activities are not man’s main purpose for being created and existing on planet earth. His main purpose for life is to glorify God, the Creator, and to enjoy Him forever. This statement of purpose was first written in England during the 17th century by a group of Christian leaders known as the Westminster Divines and has not been improved upon by others.
Glorifying and enjoying God are interdependent. It is impossible to glorify God without enjoying Him, and it is impossible to enjoy God without glorifying Him. All other activities are ways we fulfill this one purpose.
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31)
You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. (Psalm 16:11)
Glorify and enjoy God today as you live in His presence doing what He has called you to do.
HAVE A BLESSED DAY!
