I will be Your God

NEW EVERY MORNING

John 11:1-16

Why does God allow His people to be sad?  The account of Lazarus and his sisters answer this question.  When Jesus heard that the one He

loved was ill,  His response explained the why of the situation.  It was so God could be glorified.

Going to Lazarus meant returning to a place that was not safe.  The disciples were confused by Jesus’ slow response and lack of concern for personal safety.  They were certain they would not return from this trip

after hearing of Lazarus’ death.

What is Jesus telling you about Himself and how should you respond?

Enjoy God today as you glorify Him with your life.

NEW EVERY MORNING

John 10:31-43

The Jewish leaders responded to Jesus’ discussion of who He was

by picking up stones to kill Him.  Rather than considering the  supernatural works that Jesus did as defining who He was, they explained His actions as being caused by a demon.  However, the reality is that Jesus is God even if you don’t believe this fact.

What is Jesus telling you about Himself and how should you respond?

Glorify God as you see how Jesus works in your life today.

NEW EVERY MORNING

John 10:22-40

The Jewish Leaders asked Jesus to tell them plainly if He was the Christ.  His response of, I and my Father are one, was pure blasphemy to them and gave them a reason to stone Him.  Using the sheep metaphor, Jesus told these religious people they were not children of God because they would not believe He was God.

In His discussion of sheep, Jesus gives precious words of security to His sheep.  Sheep who belong to the Good Shepherd are in His sheep fold because God has placed them there, and nothing can remove them from His flock.  Psalm 23 is a picture of the blessings these sheep have.

What is Jesus telling you about Himself and how should you respond?

Enjoy the blessings of a sheep belonging to the Good Shepherd as you glorify God today.

NEW EVERY MORNING

John 10:1-21

This passage presents one of the most picturesque metaphors of Christ’s relationship to His disciples.  It echoes David’s words in Psalm 23; The Lord is my shepherd.  Caring for sheep was a concept that was familiar to the people listening to Jesus.

After He told the Pharisees that they were guilty because of their  sight (their view of God’s law), Jesus compares His care for God’s people to the Jewish Leaders care for God’s people.  Jesus makes a point of claiming a certain group of sheep as His.  These sheep hear His voice and follow Him.  The Good Shepherd will die so His sheep can have abundant life.

What is Jesus telling you about  Himself and how should you respond?

Enjoy the abundant life given to you by your Good Shepherd as you glorify God today.

NEW EVERY MORNING

John 9:35-41

Two important spiritual events occur in the life of the healed man.

Jesus found him after he was expelled from the synagogue and asked him if he believed in the Son of Man (Jesus).  The first event was Jesus coming to Him.  It is important to note that a work of faith was going on in the man’s heart.

The second event was, that because of the gift of faith given to him by Jesus, he responded with, Lord I believe, and worshipped the One who had not only given physical sight but had also given spiritual sight.

What is Jesus telling you about Himself and how should you respond?

Glorify God today as you enjoy the physical and spiritual sight that He gives to you.

NEW EVERY MORNING

John 9:18-34

Without spiritual sight that comes from a heart changed by God, people cannot place their faith in Christ.  The healed blind beggar and his family were grilled by the Jewish leaders regarding his condition. There is an innocence of newly born faith in the responses he gave to the arrogant questions of the religious elite.  The healed man was barred from the synagogue and religious ritual based on tradition.  His faith was now based on Christ alone, sola Christo.

What is God telling you about Himself and how should you respond?

Enjoy God today as you glorify Him with your faith in Him alone.

NEW EVERY MORNING

John 9:8-17

The neighbors of the blind beggar noticed the changed life he received from Jesus.  They did not believe his story of healing.  So they took him to the Jewish authorities to sort out the details.  No one, other than the blind man, was amazed by this event.  The Jewish leaders focused on Jesus breaking the law by healing on the Sabbath.

What do you learn about Jesus in this passage and how should you respond?

Enjoy God today as you glorify Him with the changed life He has given you.

NEW EVERY MORNING

John 9:1-7

The Light of the World gives light to a blind man, changing his life forever.  This man had never seen; he was born blind.  The first visual implanted in his brain was the face of Jesus.  His blindness was not caused by sin, but he was blind so God could show His power in him.

What is Jesus telling you about Himself and how should you respond?

Enjoy God today as you glorify Him in circumstances that He has brought into your life.

NEW EVERY MORNING

John 8:48-59

The Jewish leaders counter Jesus’ explanation of why they can’t understand what He is saying by telling Jesus that He has a demon.  The key statement in this passage is in verse 58; Before Abraham was, I Am.

How dare Jesus claim to be eternal!  Only God is eternal! The Jewish leaders act on their anger by picking up stones to throw at Jesus.

What is Jesus telling you about Himself and how should you respond?

Glorify our eternal God today as you enjoy serving Him.

NEW EVERY MORNING

John 8:39-47

Jesus gives His audience a lesson in spiritual genetics.  He told the Jewish leaders, who wanted to kill Him, that their actions showed the devil was their father.  Physically they were in Abraham’s family tree, but their lack of faith proved they were not his spiritual descendants.

What is Jesus telling you about Himself and how should you respond?

Enjoy your spiritual family today as you worship and glorify God.
