NEW EVERY MORNING
Jesus prayed for the disciples who He had called to represent Him in the world. Knowing that He would no longer be physically with them, Jesus prayed that they would be set apart in truth and protected from the evil one. The words in this prayer are full of love and intimacy. They also reflect the example Jesus gave of being set apart in truth.
What is Jesus telling you about Himself and how should you respond?
Enjoy being set apart in Truth as you glorify God today.
HAVE A BLESSED DAY!
NEW EVERY MORNING
These words are God speaking to God. That is amazing! Jesus knew that within hours, God’s plan to redeem His people would be completed on the cross. The first part of His prayer asks that God the Father and God the Son would be glorified by this act of redemption.
Jesus used the word glorify/glory many times in this prayer. He asked that highest honor and praise would be given to God the Father and God the Son.
What is Jesus telling you about Himself and how should you respond?
Glorify God today as you enjoy praising Him for your salvation.
HAVE A BLESSED DAY!
NEW EVERY MORNING
Jesus ended His conversation by telling the disciples that their faith would be challenged and they would desert Him. Yet, in the midst of tribulation, the disciples would find their peace in Jesus. He is in control and has overcome the world.
What is Jesus telling you about Himself and how should you respond?
Enjoy peace in Jesus as you glorify God today.

NEW EVERY MORNING
These verses describe the spiritual I get it moment when the disciples finally understood what Jesus had been saying about Himself. This was a moment of enlightenment by the Light of the World, growing each disciple spiritually. Moments of growth like these happen when God’s people spend time with the Word.
What is Jesus telling you about Himself and how should you respond?
Glorify God today as you enjoy spending time with the Word.
HAVE A BLESSED DAY!
NEW EVERY MORNING
The disciples were confused by Jesus’ statement: a little while and you will not see me, and again a little while, and you will see me … because I am going to the Father. In this context Jesus promised them great sorrow that would turn to great joy, similar to a woman giving birth.
Jesus also told them that the way they prayed was going to change because He was going to the Father. Until this time, their prayers had been directed to Jehovah, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Now their prayers would be directed to God the Father in the name of Jesus. When these men prayed they would have the visual memory of Jesus, the miracle worker, advocating for them in the presence of God the Father.
What is Jesus telling you about Himself and how should you respond?
Glorify God today with the joy that Jesus, your Advocate, gives.
HAVE A BLESSED DAY
NEW EVERY MORNING
Jesus described the process of spiritual growth to His disciples. He knew they were overwhelmed with the concept of His leaving and one day taking them to where He was going. The thought of being put to death because they followed Jesus was being contemplated by these faithful men as they listened to the One they loved.
So Jesus, understanding their fears, compassionately said; I still have
many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. He focuses on the Holy Spirit who would guide them and help them grow in truth as they glorified God in the world.
What is Jesus telling you about Himself and how should you respond?
Glorify God today as you enjoy growing in His truth.
HAVE A BLESSED DAY!
NEW EVERY MORNING
In the process of preparing His disciples for life without His physical presence with them, Jesus gave good news and bad news. During His time with the disciples Jesus helped their faith grow by telling them what they needed to know and not giving them too much information. Now that He was leaving, the disciples would be presenting Jesus to the world. They needed to know what to expect.
The bad news was that disciples of Jesus would be persecuted and even be put to death, their executioners thinking they were doing God’s work. However, the good news was that the disciples would never be without the presence of Christ in their lives. The Holy Spirit would be with them to guide, comfort, and give wisdom.
What is Jesus telling you about Himself and how should you respond?
Enjoy Christ’s presence in your life as you glorify God today.
HAVE A BLESSED DAY!
NEW EVERY MORNING
The world will hate and persecute you just as the world hated and persecuted me; this was the reality of discipleship presented by Jesus in these verses. In fact, this was a promise which was countered by the promise of the Holy Spirit who would give the strength needed for the battle. Jesus would not ask His disciples to be His witnesses in a hostile world without His spirit being with them.
What is Jesus telling you about Himself and how should you respond?
Enjoy being Christ’s witness as you glorify God in a hostile world.
HAVE A BLESSED DAY!
NEW EVERY MORNING
You are my friends if you keep my commandments…You did not choose me but I chose you. Jesus spoke these words to the men who had faithfully been at His side for the past three years. He was going to sacrificially give His life for them so they could be blameless before Holy God. This was ultimate love, the guiltless one dying for the guilty. God’s plan of redemption was being revealed and these friends of God were chosen to be eyewitnesses.
Jesus’ friends were to be actively sharing the love given to them by loving each other and bringing others to Christ.
What is Jesus telling you about Himself and how should you respond?
Glorify God today as you enjoy being His friend.
HAVE A BLESSED DAY!
NEW EVERY MORNING
The disciples were familiar with the concepts Jesus used in this metaphor of caring for a vineyard. Grapes were a common commodity
for wine making. Jesus told the disciples that they were the fruit bearing branches attached to the part of the plant responsible for keeping the branches alive. Jesus was the vine that provided the resources for life and fruit bearing.
Jesus discussed other marks of discipleship; obedience, love and joy. If you keep my commandments abide in my love…These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.
What is Jesus telling you about Himself and how should you respond?
Enjoy bearing fruit today as you glorify God with a joyful heart.
HAVE A BLESSED DAY!
