AWE FACTOR LIVING
The awe factor actively keeps peace in the church. This account is an enigma as to what is required of believers in Christ. Paul met Timothy in his travels and was so impressed with him that he asked Timothy to join the team. In meeting with the various churches, Paul was relaying the ruling of the council in Jerusalem on Gentiles and circumcision, the Jewish sign of faith.
Timothy was of mixed ethnicity; his mother Jewish and his father Greek (gentile). Probably because his father was not Jewish, Timothy had not been circumcised; a ritual that was done to Jewish babies on the eighth day after birth. Now an adult, Timothy was circumcised before he travelled to other churches with Paul.
Why did Paul feel this was necessary when the Jerusalem council had ruled that circumcision was not a requirement for Christians? This was an act of humility on the part of Timothy. He did not want to create issues because of his mixed heritage. Timothy is a great example of a humble servant with a willing heart for keeping peace within the church.
What is God telling you about Himself and how should you respond?
Glorify and enjoy God today as you humbly work at keeping peace.
HAVE A BLESSED DAY!
