We have looked at what verse 8 says about parents as role models. Today we will take apart the first word of this verse, hear. Hearing is a gift from God. The physical sense of hearing is a part of our ability to learn about the world around us. Listening is the activity that allows hearing to occur. God has given us organs that cause this sense, our ears. Anatomically they are very complex and amazing.
There is much background noise that is blocked because of lack of attention, no longer heard. In verse 8 the word hear implies paying attention to and taking action based on what is heard. The concept of hearing is a frequent activity throughout Proverbs.
Hearing can also be done by taking in information through other senses, such as what happens when you read. You pay attention to the information read and apply it to your life. In fact, visual in-put of information is the way deaf people hear.
¨ What does God want His people to hear?
¨ What actions does God want His people to take?
¨ How does God want parents to teach their children His commands?
What is God telling you about Himself and how should you respond?
Glorify and enjoy God as you hear His Word today.
HAVE A BLESSED DAY!
