LIFE COACH
Proverbs 2:1-5 Treasure Hunt
How should you approach learning? These verses focus on understanding and knowledge. Most students do not face a day of learning with the active approach of these verses. So, today the challenge is to participate in a learning treasure hunt. If you are a student by occupation, all of the subjects you will participate in today – math, science, language arts – are features of God’s knowledge.
The learning activity in this passage involves body, mind, and spirit – all of you.
What words in verses 1-5 indicate your body?
What words in verses 1-5 indicate your mind (intellect, judgment, memory, learning)?
What words in verses 1-5 indicate spiritual activity?
According to these verses learning does not occur by being a couch potato. Learning is active. The picture of a treasure hunt brings to mind shipwrecks that have been discovered recently, and divers who risk their lives to bring up every last piece of treasure from the bottom of the ocean.
By the way, learning never stops. We cannot know all there is to know about God and His creation. So, as you sit in class and do the work required of you, know that once you are out of school you will continue to add knowledge in your life experience.
What is God telling you about Himself and how should you respond?
Glorify and enjoy God who gives you His knowledge and wisdom today.

KNOWING GOD
Job 40:1-24
God humbled Job by describing His work as creator and sustainer of the universe. God continued His revelation to Job as the Just Judge and Lord of the moral order in His creation. I will question you and you will make it known to me.
Job stood in the courtroom of God and was questioned by God. The questions were challenges to Job’s lack of trust in God’s providence and power. God used examples from creation to help Job understand His power and man’s inability to control it. The Behemoth, hippopotamus,
is described in verses 15-24.
What is God telling you about Himself and how should you respond?
Glorify and enjoy God as you see His power at work in your world today.

AWE FACTOR LIVING
The awe factor recognizes and confronts spiritual fraud. There will always be people who use the Gospel for personal gain. Audiences are mesmerized in the presence of skilled practitioners who use the things of God to gain fame. Simon the magician was one of these gurus. His abilities amazed the people of Samaria where the Apostle Philip was preaching the Gospel. The people praised Simon; this man is the power of God that is called Great.
When Simon saw the apostles praying that God would give the Holy Spirit to people, and the act of laying hands on people was the process by which the Holy Spirit came; He wanted this ability. Peter confronted Simon’s self-serving request. You have neither part nor lot in this matter for your heart is not right before God…repent…pray for forgiveness…you are in the bond of iniquity. Simon responded by asking the disciples to pray for him.

Glorify and enjoy God today as you deal with the spiritual counterfeits that surround your life.

AWE FACTOR LIVING
The awe factor understands how God works in the world. Stephen was asked if the charges brought against him were true. Rather than a simple “no”, Stephen gives a history lesson to show how God kept His covenant with Israel throughout time even though Israel was unfaithful.
Abraham was the man to whom God chose to give the promise of I will be your God and you will be my people. Abraham was faithful in obeying God. And so the line of Israel’s Patriarchs began. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Jacob’s twelve sons were the foundation of Jewish history; and the men listening to Stephen knew their history. His point in this lesson was that the current leaders of Israel were at odds with God’s covenant with them.
What is God telling you about Himself and how should you respond?
Glorify God today as you enjoy His faithfulness.

AWE FACTOR LIVING
The awe factor unifies and places proper value on things owned; they are all gifts from God to use for His glory. Power and grace to share the
Gospel were given to these people as they met the needs of each other. This was the foundation of the greatest institution of all time, Christ’s church.
Throughout time the church has been tainted by the sin of people who change the Truth of the Gospel to fit their agendas. But, the church of Christ is described in its purest form in these verses. Simplicity in preaching and caring for each other were the marks of this church.
What is God telling you about Himself and how should you respond?
Glorify and enjoy God today as you use what He has given you to care for others.

AWE FACTOR LIVING
The awe factor causes worship and makes believers strong through spiritual discipline. Peter, John, and friends turned to their Sovereign God after their visit to the council of Jewish leaders. They prayed for boldness to continue to speak God’s word. God responded to their prayer with a physical sign of His presence.
They went out into the streets and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.
What is God telling you about Himself and how should you respond?
Enjoy God today as you glorify Him with your bold faith and worship.

AWE FACTOR LIVING
The awe factor gives boldness and a faith that stands firm under adversity. Peter and John were brought before the council of Jewish leaders, who recognized that these common and uneducated men were drawing crowds because of the healing of the man who had been lame for forty years. The leaders decided to tell Peter and John to stop preaching and teaching in the name of Jesus.
Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge, for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard, was their response. The council of Jewish leaders could do no more than threaten Peter and John for this response to their command, because the people were praising God for the healing of the lame man.
What is God telling you about Himself and how should you respond?
Glorify and enjoy God today as you live boldly, standing firm in faith.
HAVE A BLESSED DAY!
AWE FACTOR LIVING
The awe factor annoys the self righteous. Jewish leaders, whose workplace was the temple where Peter and John were preaching, arrested them. This gave the disciples the opportunity to preach the Gospel to these enemies of Christ. The sermon ended with; and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. What boldness!
What is God telling you about Himself and how should you respond?
Glorify and enjoy God today as you rejoice in the salvation He has given you.
HAVE A BLESSED DAY!
AWE FACTOR LIVING
The awe factor caused Peter to fearlessly preach the Gospel. Filled with wonder and amazement at the miracle done through Peter and John, the crowd is ready to hear. Peter no longer is fearful of being identified as a disciple when he is in the territory of the Jewish leaders.
This sermon assured the crowd that, even though they were guilty of putting Jesus to death, Christ’s death was part of God’s eternal plan for them to be forgiven. They only had to repent and place their faith in Christ.
What is God telling you about Himself and how should you respond?
Glorify and enjoy God today as you fearlessly live the awe factor.

AWE FACTOR LIVING
Peter and John found him at the temple where he spent his days begging for money from those who saw him. Scripture calls him a man who was lame from birth. Everyday he was dependent on others to carry him to his place at the temple where he cried out to others to help him. He had never walked.
When Peter and John walked by, the man asked them for money. This encounter with the awe factor changed his life eternally. He was healed physically and spiritually. He needed more than daily subsistence and Jesus gave him what was needed through Peter and John.
Those who witnessed this miracle were filled with wonder and amazement as the man began to walk, leap, and praise God. The awe factor causes wonder and amazement.
What is God telling you about Himself and how should you respond?
Glorify and enjoy God today as others witness the awe factor in your life.
